My relentless desire to start my own law firm right out of law school started in my 2L year when I realized that I didn’t want to work for a big law firm (or any law firm) that sucked the life out of me and got rich off of my time and talent.
I had worked way too hard up to that point to live a life that didn’t make me happy or didn’t give me the flexibility that I wanted.
Yeah, everyone tried to talk me out of it, saying “You should work somewhere first to get experience and save some money.” Although they probably meant well, I didn’t want to delay my dream or spend any part of my life dreading going to work.
So I committed to my dream and invested in myself. And guess what! I figured out the keys to getting clients and building a six-figure business law firm, even as a new lawyer.
I got my first client on the first day I opened my firm ($500 just to send a two-page letter…whoa!). And just a few months later, I started consistently making five-figures each month!
